The Hampton Festival provides an outlet for the work of both professional and up and coming visual, performance, vocal and craft artists through the Hampton Art Exhibition. The festival is committed to fostering further development of the arts in the local community.

The Hampton Art Exhibition is an important way to foster local talent and has run concurrently with the Festival for 17 years. It continues to offer a wonderful opportunity for prominent and emerging artists living within a 50km radius of Hampton to present their work to an audience of thousands.

The 2019 Artsworx McGregor School bursary will be awarded in the Open section of the exhibition and announced at the Hampton Art Exhibition Opening on Saturday 18 May. A Hampton Art Exhibition Hangers prize and Year 6 Student prize and highly commended awards are also announced at the opening.

Please follow the steps below to lodge your intent to exhibit at the Hampton Art Exhibition:

  1. Read and agree to the Conditions of Entry - CLICK HERE

  2. Complete the ‘Intent to Exhibit’ application form below.

  3. List your works with the title, medium, size and sale price. Please note that a limit of three (3) artworks per artist applies. All artwork must be for sale.

  4. Pay your entry fee - $30 per artist.

This year a sub-category to the open exhibition has been included for Years 7 – 10 students. There will be a first, second and third prize as well as five highly commended certificates awarded to selected students.  Click here for Conditions of Entry information.

Year 7 – 10 students attending the following local High Schools have been invited to enter: Crows Nest State School, Highfields State Secondary College, Mary McKillop Catholic College and Toowoomba Christian College.

Students attending other schools in Years 7 -10 who reside in the Hampton region are also eligible to participate.  The Hampton region is defined as the areas in and around Crows Nest, Geham, Ravensbourne, Goombungee, Gowrie, Haden, Highfields, Kingsthorpe and Murphy’s Creek.

The competition winners will be announced at the Exhibition Opening on Saturday 18 May from 4.00 pm to 6.00pm. Artists/students, their guests and the general public are welcome to attend. Admission is free.

 Year 11 and 12 students are most welcome to exhibit and sell their artwork in the open category of the Exhibition.  The entry fee is $30.00 per entry with a maximum of 3 entries.  Refer to the Art Exhibition page above.

TO ENTER THE yEAR 7 -10 COMPETITION

Please follow the steps below to lodge your intent to exhibit in the Year 7 - 10 Art competition:

  1. Read and agree to the Conditions of Entry - CLICK HERE

  2. Complete the ‘Year 7 -10 Intent to Exhibit’ application form below and submit by Friday 19 April.

  3. List your name and address only. Further details will be required when you deliver your work. See Section 10 of the Conditions of Entry

  4. Pay your entry fee - $5 per artist.

HAMPTON ART EXHIBITION OPENING AND PREVIEW

SATURDAY 18 MAY from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. FREE ENTRY

The Hampton Art Exhibition preview and opening takes place at Chapman Park, Hampton.  Artists, guests and the general public are invited to join us as we celebrate the preview. Light refreshments will be served.

The  USQ Artsworx Bursary, Hampton Art Exhibition Hangers prize and the Year 6 Student prize will all be announced at the opening.

The Hampton Art Exhibition is open all day on Sunday 19 May as part of the HAMPTON FESTIVAL from 9.30am - 4.00pm.
