We are very excited to have Ash Martin, Executive Chef, Homage Restaurant, Spicers Hidden Vale, conducting the cooking demonstrations. Ash’s paddock to plate philosophy and passion for regional produce is such a great fit with our Festival and our goal for celebrating all of the fabulous food fare in our region.
Sharing his passion for all things beer, the guru of beer, BeerMatt (Matt Kirkegaard) will give you an insight into beer appreciation both in the Chef's Marquee and at the beer tasting tent (outside the Chef's marquee) throughout the day.
* live music - music stage
10.00 - 10.30am Beer pouring - Matt Kirkegaard
Pouring a beer is one of the first things that most beer drinkers learn...and most of us are doing it wrong. From not properly cleaning our glass, to using the wrong type of glass to pouring the beer incorrectly, there are so many ways it can go wrong. Learn how to select a glass and clean it and how to pour a beer to impress.
10.45 - 11.30am Ash Martin - cooking demonstration & local farmer talks
11.45 - 12.15pm Beer Blind Tasting competition - Matt Kirkegaard
Do you have a friend who refuses to drink XXXX and will only drink VB and swear that they can tell the difference between their favourite beer and anything else? Do you prefer beer from glasses because you can taste the can in cans? Put your tastebuds to the test as BeerMatt takes you through a blind tasting competition to see who will be the best beer taster in the cooking tent!
12.30 - 1.15pm Ash Martin - cooking demonstration & local farmer talks
1.30 - 2.00pm Beer and flavour - Matt Kirkegaard
While beer was once all about volume and refreshment, the world of craft beer has opened our eyes - and our tastebuds - to a world of flavour. Join BeerMatt to discover some of the flavours of craft beer and learn that beer can smell like passionfruit and licorice or taste like chocolate and bacon. Don't believe us...come and see!
